Privacy notice
Written to be read. If anything here is unclear, ask and we will answer in the same plain language.

What this covers
This notice covers ranksteer.com and the RankSteer customer application at app.ranksteer.com. It does not cover the separate websites of our customers, or third-party platforms such as Google, which have their own notices.
What we collect
- What you type into a form. Your website address when you ask for a visibility report, and your name, email, phone, website, location count and message when you use the contact form.
- Customer account data. If you buy a plan: your business details, the platform accounts you connect, and the work the product performs for you.
- Technical data. Your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in ordinary server logs.
- Nothing hidden. We do not buy contact lists, and we do not use advertising trackers on this website. See the cookie notice.
Why we use it
- To produce the visibility report you asked for, and to send it to you.
- To answer your message.
- To deliver the plan you bought, including publishing what you have approved.
- To keep the service secure and working, and to meet our legal and accounting obligations.
Where the law requires a legal basis: performing a contract with you, our legitimate interest in answering enquiries and securing the service, your consent where you gave it, and compliance with legal obligations.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not add you to a marketing list because you asked for a free report.
- We do not publish anything in your business name that you have not enabled.
Who else sees it
Only the service providers we need to run the product, and only for that purpose. Those include our hosting and email providers, the platforms you connect to your account (for example your Google Business Profile), and the AI providers whose assistants we query on your behalf. When we query an assistant we send the question and your public business details, not your account data.
How long we keep it
- Contact form messages: up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Visibility reports and account data: for as long as you are a customer, and up to 12 months after you stop, so you can come back to your history.
- Server logs: up to 90 days.
- Records we must keep for tax or accounting: as long as the law requires.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to a particular use. Write to the address below and we will act on it within 30 days. If you are in the EEA or the UK you have these rights under the GDPR; if you are in California you have comparable rights under the CCPA, including the right not to be discriminated against for using them.
Children
RankSteer is a business product and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Security
Traffic to this website and the application is encrypted in transit. Access to customer data is limited to the people who need it to do the work. No system is perfect, and if something happens that affects you we will tell you rather than wait to be asked.
Changes
If this notice changes materially we will update the date at the top and, for customers, say so in the product.
